After visiting Costa Rica in early January, I flew to Belize where I met my friends Lee Cavanaugh and Lorraine Sandoval-Vigil at the airport. We flew to San Pedro on Ambergris Caye where we stayed several nights. Here we rented bikes, did some snorkeling, and really enjoyed the people and the town. One day we took a side trip by boat to the little town of Bomba on the mainland and then by bus to the Mayan ruins at Altun Ha. Afterwards we frew by air taxi to Gallon Jug in the Orange Walk District, where we stayed for several days at the posh Chan Chich Lodge in the jungle. Here is where I really got into birding.
