La letra de este himno en su forma original por Reginald Heber (inglés, 1783-1826) es absolutamente trinitaria, pero se alteró bastante para poder incluirse en Singing the Living Tradition, donde es el número 26 [«Holy, Holy, Holy»]. De manera semejante se ha alterado la traducción de Juan Bautista Cabrera (español, 1837-1916), quizás un poco más aún, pues el género de la deidad se ha cambiado al feminino («…fuerza creadora»). La tonada NICAEA es de John Bacchus Dykes (inglés, 1823-1876). De hecho, el nombre de la tonada es un tributo al Primer Concilio de Nicea, que en 325 concretó la doctrina de la trinidad. Este canto no fue aceptado para Las voces del camino.
The lyrics of this hymn in its original form by Reginald Heber (English, 1783-1826) are absolutely trinitarian, but they were altered considerably in order to be included in Singing the Living Tradition, where it is hymn number 26 [«Holy, Holy, Holy»]. Similarly altered is the translation by Juan Bautista Cabrera (Spanish, 1837-1916), perhaps even a bit more since the deity's gender has been changed to the feminine ("…fuerza creadora"). The melody NICAEA is by John Bacchus Dykes (English, 1823-1876). Indeed, the very name of the music is a tribute to the First Council of Nicaea, which in 325 formalized the doctrine of the trinity. This song was not accepted for Las voces del camino.
