«Romero de América» conmemora la vida del arzobispo Óscar Romero de El Salvador, que en 1980 fue asesinado mientras oficiaba la misa por haber denunciado los abusos de un gobierno opresivo. El autor del texto y de la música, © 2005, es Félix Tello (argentino, n. 1934), asociado con los servicios en español de la Primera Iglesia Unitaria de Los Ángeles, California, que mandó una partitura escrita a mano al Comité de Himnario en Español. Esta es la versión original de la música transportada a re mayor. «Romero de América» se incluyó en Las voces del camino pero con un arreglo en re bemol, que lo hace algo más difícil de tocar.

"Romero de América" commemorates the life of archbishop Oscar Romero of El Salvador, who in 1980 was murdered while celebrating mass for having denounced the abuses of an oppressive government. The author of the lyrics and music, © 2005, is Félix Tello (Argentinian, b. 1934), associated with the Spanish-languge services of the First Unitarian Church of Los Ángeles, California, which sent a hand-written score to the Spanish Hymnal Committee. This is the original version of the music transposed to D major. "Romero de América" is included in Las voces del camino but with an arrangement in the key of D flat major, which makes it somewhat more difficult to play.
